Headlights
I have a 2010 Mazda 3 iTOURING model. My headlights are tinted and I'm currently using 6000k 35w aftermarket, high beams only. I needed to know if I went up to a 6000k 55w bulb, would it melt my headlamps? Any advice? I need something brighter, it's super hard to see with what i have right now.
Well I would say it is illegal to run with "smoked" headlights, this is a safety issue and I would replace them with stock headlights. As for bulbs highbeams are limited to 55w if they are incandescent type, low beams are limited to 50w any higher will also be in violation of laws in every state. You do run the risk of melting/burning your wiring and reflector assembly with higher rated bulbs, best case is they work but run hot worst case you burn the car to the ground. Which state do you live in?

I would say your car violates section A and B unfortunately

You Need HId Bulbs 35 watt, there 3 times as bright as normal stock one.

4,300k puts out more light (measured in lumens) than most other bulb colours (around 3200 lumens for a 35 watt system)
6000k (the most popular colour) puts out around 2800 lumens by comparison.
If you are mainly doing city driving, then we recommend choosing 4300k. It is the same colour used on OEM HID cars, and will still look much whiter than your current halogen bulbs (as well as much brighter).
If you are doing mainly country / highway driving, then we recommend choosing 6000k. The feedback we have been given from truck drivers, as well as two professional Roo Shooters from SA (that tested all the colours) was that the 6000k colour bulbs shows up kangaroos / cattle better than the other colours.

@UseYourNoggin i'm not running stock bulbs. im running 35w 6000k. just need something a little brighter at night. Keeping in mind I have smoked lens and not planning on replacing them.
@MAzdaTirol- I never asked for smartass answers and for someone to point out wrong and that they are a KNOW-IT-ALL, esp. soomeone not from the states. But thanks for the unhelpful advice. When I want to burn my car down or want to know the speed limit at my current location I'll keep you in mind. And the F-250 you're running, I'm sure it will burn down a bit quicker. ;0)
