Default Has anyone tried the Banks PedalMonster?

Gayle Banks is a respected name and the product seems easy to install, and the logic behind it makes sense. I was wondering if anyone had tried it on the 2.0 Skyactive? I have a 2014 model.

I thought that I would update this in case anyone was interested. I installed it on Christmas Day, and it works as advertised, which is to reduce throttle lag.

Only got my 2022 Mazda 3 Skyactiv X about a week ago but I've not noticed anything I would call lag in the throttle response. Was that a problem with earlier models?

These devices at a hefty price DO NOT REDUCE THROTLE LAG. All they do is change the input signal from the drive-by-wire or throttle pedal to the ECU. Basically, as an example where you would normally be applying X= % of movement on the throttle pedal it changes to greater % amount sent to the ECU. So, in other words in some settings to reach WOT which would be the physical actuation of the peddle completely floored you can reach WOT as an example at 60% thotle pedal angle.
To support this information their C.A.R.B. certification is universal for all their applications. . This means it does not change the emission in any way. Now I could go into a long explanation about this but simply put the sim-ple act of changing fueling can cause emission to change and therefore each kit would need its own individual C.A..R. B certification.

These most all these type devices do NOTHING to change the fuel, timing etc that would be the correct way to change what some refer to as throttle lag. To do that correctly at ECU level requires CALABRATION adjustments in sever operating PIDs or Cells in the ECU program. BTW in most all ECU at least from 2002 and newer an adjustment to change the throttle angle percentage. So, if there is a Tuner offer a program that can access the ECU to upload pre-programmed calibration known as CAN_TUNES for a few hundred dollars more than devices like the one mentioned in this thread you can get better more accurate improvement in many aspects of the engine's performance.

For Mazda I would look into a Versa Tuner? If they don't list your Mazda contact them direct they are always adding new models and don't always keep their website updated.



On a positive note if you have an extra 250-300 to burn for these kind of devices they can be fun novelty in the sense giving the feeling you have a more powerful engine. And if you combine it with a Sound Racer you can have some fun

So I did take your advice, Callisto, and purchased the Versa Tuner Lite for now, and will most likely upgrade at a later date. Thanks.
