Hi, new to the forum and hoping someone can help. We have an ‘06 3 manual 2.0 hatch.
The fuel pump failed and was replaced with a genuine pump. Despite asking, the mechanic didn’t change the fuel filter.
Ever since then, it has been harder to start. It turns over and then will catch like it’s on 2-3 cylinders and either a), start up like normal, or b), not start, just turn over. Almost like it’s struggling for fuel.
It always does start, 2nd or 3rd time. Once started, it runs perfectly.
If you stop, it may start perfectly, or it may repeat as above.
Generally, it is most likely to start first time when stone cold/first start of the day.
There is no CEL.
I've run a scanner over it and it shows no codes, then watched live data as it ran and it showed up
fuel sys1 CLFault, which I think is related to the o2 sensor?
After it warmed up a bit, the fault went away and just had CL.
Any ideas?

Common for the pressure valve /fuel return valve to fail. Did they replace just the physical pump or the whole plastic assembly?

 

Thanks for the reply, pretty sure it was the whole assembly from Mazda. I’ll check though. At $700, I hope it was the whole thing.
