Default Extra static on AM radio lately

2005 Mazda3... I've been experiencing more and more static lately in specific locations. The stations comes through fine, just static over it when I drive by specific locations. Some of these places have given static before, but it seems to be getting progressively worse. It's gotten to the point that even my driving out of the garage can generate static (from my garage door opener perhaps?).

Is it my radio... perhaps a connector getting corroded? Or is there just too much electrical crap in the air? This is in the SF area, by the way.

could be a transmission problem in the air. or maybe there is something wrong with your AM connector to your radio. could be loose. if it even has that i am not sure of but its something worth looking at. does it get better in some areas then others? perhaps a frequency issue.
