Default engine replacement for 2010 2.0 M3 - first gen?

Hello everyone,
I need to replace my engine (2010 2.0 Mazda 3).

Do you guys know if I could install a used 2005-2008 (first gen 2.0) on it without modification? Wikipedia says it's the same engine.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

Sorry and to clarify:
My car is 2010 generation 2 - Mazda 3 - 2.0L.
Can I install a gen 1 2.0L (2007). Any programming needed or modifications at all?

Wikipedia says it's the same engine....

A million thank you in advance if you can shed any light.

You can use a 2007 engine. Use both manifolds off your 2010, along with all sensors and auxiliaries.

thanks so much Grim!
and do you think that moving over manifolds, all sensors and auxiliaries would be a big deal for decent mechanic like just 1-2 extra hours?
I'm not a mechanic and trying to figure out if saving $500 on the engine would not cause too much in labor.
THANK YOU!

You would be better off using a 2009 - 2011 engine. You would spend a couple of hours plus gaskets to swap , less than $500.

If you do a swap change out of an engine I would recommend that you mention to the person doing it to carefully label EVERY electrical connection they disconnect. And to use a check sheet when re-installing checking off each electrical connection. I know this sound unusual but the most common thing of an engine swap out not starting is a forgotten connection.

thanks so much guys!
The mechanic that is doing the job told me he'd prefer using the 2009-2011. That engine would cost me $400 more but in the end it's an easier job and hopefully better INSTALL. Fingers crossed!
