Hey guys, I need your help, again. So my son has been driving his car with what seems to be a timing VVT issue. Makes a rattling sound only on a dry startup for 2-3 seconds. Anyhow, 2 days ago I moved the car and after the car warmed up a bit, it started to knock. It goes a way if I rev the engine. It literally sounds like a diesel. I checked for codes and it has a pending CEL P0012. This morning the CEL stayed on with that code.

Ive watched many youtube videos and the one attached is pretty much like what it sounds like. He said replacing the VVT and all the other parts that go with it fixed the problem. However I've also heard some that sound just like it and ended up being Rod Knock.

Whats weird is the car starts right up, engine runs great, no power loss or rough idle. Any idea?
