Can Anybody help me figure out whats wrong with my Mazda? I'm begging for help.
I own a 2005 2.3L Mazda3 S. When I bought the car it had 87000 miles on it and was running perfectly fine. Then I got into a wreck (My tire blew and I hit a curb) which cost me 5250 in repairs which replaced my oil pan, A lot of front end work, and A few other things. The shop owner got everything running back into good condition but told me the car still felt a little laggy as far as acceleration goes he said he thought it was the fuel filter. But now I'm getting worse gas mileage then before the wreck and in first gear my car feels quite a bit of lag at sometimes and at other times very little lag. I've tried to figure in everything But My transmission is fine, And I thought it may have been some bad gas. But I even filed up my car with Shell Mid-grade and I'm still experiencing this problem. My step father seems to think it may be The Fuel pump going out but I would like to get other opinions before I take it in to be replaced seeing as how they are close to a grand to replace. Any help would be appreciated.
P.S my car runs smother on hot day then on cold days. |
Ooooo, Man!! I don't want to leave you hanging, but frankly after an accident it could be so many things its hard to tell!! I'm really sorry, but certainly something didn't get put back the way it was. I highly doubt the fuel pump would suddenly go out since there seems to have been no sign of it before the accident, but depending where the damage was, it could be a number of things. You are not getting any CEL/codes from the ECU? |
The 3's did have a run of bad fuel pumps so it could be that. If it were I think it would be a bit more coincidence with the wreck vs. directly related though. When mine went bad the first thing that happened was the CEL came on, even before I noticed symptoms. After that the car would work fine, however if I pushed the gas past about 1/2 throttle it felt like someone was pushing on the brakes.

FINALLY!!!! My 2005 3 seems to cut out in first gear! IT WILL THROW THE CEL ON AND THE CODE IS A BANK 1 to rich at idle!!! I was trying to fing a fuel filter but no luck ! Any ideas on this code or location of a fuel filter?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??! thanks

What is the code exactly? I imagine a fuel pump issue wouldn't throw a rich code. A bad Fuel Pressure Regulator (FPR) would if its vacuum operated, if it failed then your just sucking straight fuel right through the hose or running max fuel pressure. Also check all your intake piping for any kinks or blockages, any air restriction will make you run rich.
