Brakes
My 3i has 41,XXX miles, and it is time for new rear brakes it sounds like. what is the normal time frame on our cars for new brake pads/ turned rotors, it seems a little early to me, but I dont know.
thanks for the info, that seems pretty early to be replaced, you must do some hard driving. my wifes car is over 60k and has no squeals or grinds coming from the brakes, but she is not a hard driver. did you change the rotors and pads yourself or did you have a mechanic do it. i wonder how hard it would be to do myself?
Mine is just clicking past 49,000 and I haven't done mine yet, but I plan on doing it soon...I'm waiting for it to warm up. I hate freezing while I work on my cars. My wife's 6 is just over 50,000 and I need to do hers before mine as it makes some groaning noises right now.....
mine has been slowly getting worse, so this weekend I need to have it inspected and then the following weekend is when I will probably get them done, hopefully it just the rear or front, not all 4 that need work
Repair shops rape you on labor for brake jobs. You can typically get rotors turned for $12-15/each, or you can get new rotors for around $50, pads would run you about $30/set.
For $260 in parts, you can have all new brakes. I'd be willing to bet a shop would charge you $500-600 for this job.
