I haven't been on this forum in a while but anyways. For some reason i got locked out of 4th gear....i tried to shift and thought it was in 4th but the RPM shot passed 8k do you think i should be worried about anything? The car still running like before. I seen a similar thread like this before and people said don't worry about it our engines can take a beating but at that time this didn't ever happen to me so im freaking out right now.
EDIT: Where does our rev limiter come in at....i dont think i even heard it bounce off the rev limter the engine just screamed really bad for a second. I just went out and revved my engine to see if the rev limitter is still there and at like 7200 its still there but that seems kind of high.

I doubt you did any damage since the rev limiter will shut things down before it comes apart and it only over-revved for a second or so. One thing though - Don't ever rev the engine near the redline without a load on it like you said you did to see if the limiter was functional. Reving it in neutral can do major damage. I speak from experience since I was a tech for a number of years (before rev limiters were invented) and some things don't change. I saw many damaged valve trains and even some blown engines from reving to the redline unloaded. You were lucky so don't press your luck.
