This morning I opened the rear hatch once -- and the second time it would only emit a rapid series of beeps. Turns out it was user error (and questionable design). I just bought this car -- so I drove it to work without finishing unloading the trunk. Once I got to work I found that the round button I was pushing this morning does nothing (?) -- and the square button closer to the camera is the one that releases the latch. My car does not have a power lift -- so maybe the button is a remnant from that system (?) or maybe it has something to do with Advanced Keyless request button -- a poor design that's easy to make a mistake with. Either way -- I thought I was going to have to bring my new purchase back to the dealer -- LOL.
