2013 Mazda 3 Key Fob Programming NOT WORKING

I have a 2013 Mazda 3. I bought a new key fob (flip out key type) and have tried to program the keyless entry using the following steps...
1. Remove key from the car
2. Open driver's door
3. Do the following within 24sec a. Insert the key and do ON then OFF and leave the key in the OFF position. Then SHUT and OPEN the door 3 times.
4. The car should lock and unlock itself to show that it is ready to program.
5. Program all fobs.
6. Then take the key out.

My problem lies with line 4. I do all the things, yet I never get a lock signal.

Please note that the fob I currently have looks like some third party type (103BP). I also have an alarm system on the car. There is a little red light to the left of the steering wheel on the first additional buttons panel. The system will not allow me to start my car unless the car has been unlocked first and I do not have power locks, which is why a key fob is so essential for my car. If I were to lose my key fob (or it broke) I could open my car and put the spare key in but could not start my car (as my alarm goes off).

Is the alarm system actually 3rd party? If so, how do I program another key fob? Sould the reprogramming steps still work?

Thanks for your help,

You might find only genuine Mazda remotes are programmed via your 1-6 step process. Aftermarket remotes or fobs may be different.

You may need to find a automotive locksmith to help you out, or visit the Mazda specialists at your local dealership.

Thanks for your response. I dove into it more and found that it is in fact an aftermarket security system. Since the system is controlling the locks, the standard key fob and process for connecting said key fob won't work. I must use one that matches the aftermarket alarm system.
