2012 Mazda 3 AT Light Issue/Questions
Hi there. Brand new to the forum! In a bit of a bind as I'm in a time crunch so I only did a fairly quick perusal but have not scoured the forum for previous posts on my car's issue but am just posting now for hopefully, timely and relevant feedback.
Have a 2012 3 with the 2.0 liter engine. Over the last few weeks, the AT light has come on and then off very briefly four times; three times with no performance impact/symptom and once with a sharp jerk/"chug" of the car. The latter incident lasted a couple seconds, the others were briefer, maybe a second or so.
Had diagnostics done and there are no (zero) codes thrown. I've done some Google searching and have learned a bit about the TCM and how it could be the culprit and need replacing. I've also read a couple of instances where people had the transmission fluid flushed and filter replaced and that did the trick. This car has about 122k miles on it and as far as I know has never had the transmission serviced (we got the car used at 80k miles).
Do you think it would be worthwhile first getting the transmission fluid and filter changed before proceeding with a possible TCM replacement, which would be much less costly. Or do you have other thoughts/suggestions as to what to do first and hopefully, least expensive?
Any input on this issue would be very helpful and appreciated. Thanks in advance!
