Greetings from Long Island, N.Y.! I have owned my 2012 Mazda3 Touring (sun and sound package, 2.5S 6 speed with bose) and finally got around to installing a new head unit, while retaining my steering wheel controls and factory amp. I also added an amp and 2x 12's. I competed the whole job this week and in the process notices that there was a lack of specific information on the forums regarding the steering wheel control interface wiring and other specifics so I figured I would start a few mazda3 forum accounts at different sites and ask if anyone would be interested in an in depth DIY tutorial, with pics.
