2008 Mazda 3 RPM jump?

Aye,

Simple question, maybe a simple answer, maybe not.

Drag racing is something I do, just for fun, and I've noticed that ever since I've had this car, at around 5'500 rpm I get a little boost of power. Just enough to make you go, "Hunh..?".

I just know it's not very common for cars to have a power jump, unless it's a Honda. But, yeah.

Thanks in advance.

Its the way that the runners in the manifold work. They are variable. It's basically the same thing as vtec, at least the end result is. Also, it's just a Mazda thing. High rpm torque peak. Also 5500 is about where peak hp is usually.
