Default 2.5 swap

will the ford fusion 2.5 fit in an 06 mazda3 2.3l auotmatic without modification?

engine mounts, trans mount, anything thats on the 2.3 engine thats not compatible with the 2.5

Yes, the Fusion 2.5 is basically the same engine as the Gen 1 Mazda3's 2.3; just a heck of a lot more reliable, more powerful, and similar fuel economy. The Duratec 2.5 swap is a VERY popular engine for Gen 1 Mazda3s with blown 2.3 liter motors, it is almost a straight bolt in; if you do a search you can find some very detailed threads available on some Mazda related forums which will take you step-by-step through the conversion process.

The results are so good I've actually toyed with looking for a clean 2008 or 2009 Mazda3 s GT 4-Door with a blown 2.3 and doing the conversion myself, just for the heck of it.
