I'm new to this forum but here it goes anyways. One day I came home late at night, pulled in the driveway, turned off the headlights and....low beams stayed on. I turned the ign. off and tryed to turn them (lights) off again. I finally got them to turn off, but it took some puzzle-like movement of lights in the on position, rotating the headlight/turn singal switch foward, up, down, and then turning the switch off while letting the handle return to the normal position. This sounds CRAZY because it is, but has been working (to get them to turn off) until tonight. I had to disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to shut them off. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love my Mazda 3s

Anybody else ever had this problem or know of a fix?

I am having the exact same problem right now and I can't figure out what is wrong. My daytime running lights will only shut off about half the time and it seems like they are more likely to stay on if the weather is really cold. I have been online and am thinking that maybe it is a relay but I am not sure. Please let me know if you figure out what is wrong.

Possible grounding issue but I haven't found it yet. My 3 doesn't have auto headlamps but similar problem. I'm going to put a terminal disconect switch on the battery if this goes on any longer. arg.

Sounds like a relay is getting frozen closed. Try replacing it and see if it works. Look around in the box and you might have a relay the same size in another slot that you can pull without causing issues, then you won't have to buy anything.
