Question UK Stock Mazda 2 wheels

Hi All,

My wifes 2009 5 door Mazda 2 has 2 busted alloy wheels; hit potholes and took a chunk out of inside of rim, causing slow puncture and is obv's not safe for her to drive with the kids in.

I'm struggling to find stock alloys/steal rims in any local breakers yards (Southampton UK), called a bunch of scrap yards, used online finder tools, searched ebay e.t.c

The tyre size is 185/55/15

Can anyone suggest a good place where I can buy stock alloys, stock steelies, or if any other make/model of car has compatible allow/steel wheels that I could source?

I'm loathed to spend > 400 quid on new alloys as the car is a work horse and has been driven into a fair few lampposts in its time :-)

Any advice on fitment or potential resting place for all the Mazda 2 wheels would be greatly apprecited.

175/65R14 is a cheaper and more comfortable tyre size than 185/55R15, and because it has higher sidewalls is more resistant to pothole damage.

You can get a Mazda 2 steel rim for the 185/55R15 tyre size, but it has a 6J rim width, which makes for a slightly harder ride compared to the 0.5" narrower 5.5J rim from the Toyota Yaris. It's also a less attractive design than the Toyota Yaris rim.

The VW Up! fits its 175/65R14 and 185/55R15 tyre sizes to 5J and 5.5J rims respectively, whereas the Fiat 500 fits its 175/65R14 and 185/55R15 tyre sizes to 5.5J and 6J rims respectively. So the VW Up! went for comfort, whereas the Fiat 500 went for sportiness.

You can see in the ETRTO chart below the allowable rim widths for both the 175/65R14 and 185/55R15 tyre sizes.

ETRTO approved rim widths
175/65R14 5.0-5.0-6.0
185/55R15 5.0-
6.0-6.5

As you can see in the chart below, I don't always agree with ETRTO.

Mazdalite's approved rim widths (different from ETRTO's)
175/65R14 4.5-5.0-6.0
185/55R15 5.0-5.5-6.5

Default Al fixed!

Thanks so much for the detailed reply and apologies for the delay in replying, great info there for anyone else looking for replacement in the future.

In the end, I ended up getting one of the alloy straightented out. The second damaged alloy had a very small dent, so got some heat on that and hammered it down myself
