Mazda2 DE 2009 Japan Built - Fitting Full Size Spare 185 55 R15
The 2009 car came with a temporary space saver spare tyre. That is a rubbish outcome in Oz.
Not keen to use a "2009 temporary space saver spare tyre" that is limited to 80km/Hr & only permitted on rear of the car by "an Insurance Policy Clause".
The "Boot Wheel Well Diameter" is too small for a "New Tyre Full Size Spare 185 55 R15".....Noted that "a Fully Deflated well worn full size spare tyre 185 55 R15" pushes into the boot wheel well, made easier if you "Silicon spray the Boot Wheel Well".
############
I'd prefer to revert to "5 Tyre Rotation", be able to fit a punctured 185 55 R15 Tyre off the Car into the Wheel Well below the rear floor & also be able to fit a New Full Size 185 55 R15 Spare into the boot wheel well as required.
It might be an option to use a "well worn tyre Deflated full size spare" pushed into the wheel well then inflate to say 50psi, remove it then repeat with additional packing around the full size spare etc, it is after all only thin pressed metal, under case inspection shows plenty of room_clearance for the nominal 3mm to 5mm diameter enlargement....I'm not so keen to take a panel beating hammer & dolly to it
############
....Have Others fitted a Full Size Spare 185 55 R15 into the "Factory OEM Space Saver Spare Wheel Well"?
What method did you use to enlarge the Factory OEM Space Saver Wheel Well Diameter?
Thoughts??
