Default Mazda 2 Rear seatbelt

My mother-in-law bought a 2018 Mazda 2 (or 2017, I'm not sure). It is a perfect car, but once she wanted to carry some passengers on the rear seat, the seat belt mechanism stopped working. Actually, the problem is with the retracting mechanism. I read somewhere, that this is a so-called common failure in some Mazda vehicle. Unfortunately, the guarantee period is over, but the OEM offered her to replace it, at a "better" price instead of the new one - but I also find it too expensive.
Since the rear seats are used very rarely, I wanted to solve this problem with second-hand seat belts, but unfortunately in Hungary there is no second-hand belt for this vehicle - at least I couldn't find one.
So my question is: Does anybody know, whether the rear seat belt mechanism of the Mazda 3 or any other Mazda type fits this Mazda 2?

Have you taken the car to a Mazda dealer for inspection? They should be able to send a report to Head office and request good will support.

Yes it was at the dealer for inspection, they took some pictures, sent it to Head Office. Actually the head office was who offered the price for the replacement, but the that is way too much. This is the reason I'm looking for a second-hand solution.

Did you ever get a response to your question. I have exactly the same problem and wonder if a 'universal belt' ( cheaper) will fit ? Thanks

Unfortunately I did not manage to find a replacable one. I contacted with the local Mazda service, and they offered a generous price for the new one, actually I have a feeling that it was the 50% discount of the doubled price…

A "Universal" belt wont work due to the pretensioner system.

Thank you for your response. Mazda here too are a bunch of crooks. I was quoted €270 yesterday for an item which should cost no more than €80 ! Unfortunately their belt is connected to the Airbag system so that a 'universal belt' will not work in that system.
It will be my last purchase of a MAZDA ( quality reasons) although not sure that other manufacturers are any different in overcharging for parts !
