Demio Media Button

I have a 2006 Mazda Demio. There is a Media button on the Radio console (see attachment).

What does it do ?

I believe you plug in a cable to run your ipod thru this button.

Did you ever find an answer to this? I know the stereo can't be replaced, so I'd love to add a bluetooth dongle to this button behind the dash somewhere.
