Ive been looking for over a month now for a car suitable for both my daughter and me. Its mainly for my daughter who is a carer for severely disabled so HAS to be reliable etc..but we both like something a bit sporty.. budget around £2500....only do around 5k miles a year...insurance/tax not really an issues

Looked so far at

Mazda MX5 - brilliant car BUT around my budget most seem full of rust or old
Hyundai I30 - From what I understand very reliable but maybe a bit bland
Toyota RAV4(3dr). - Very few around and most have issues

..and then I came across the Mazda2

What is the 1.5sport like.. is it reliable, nippy etc etc

I have a 2008 1.3 75hp and do the same mileage as you, bought at 55k miles, now on 68k.

Im happy with it, handles well and is nippy over 3500 rpm, the engine and gearbox are great.

Had to change all three engine mounts and both rear shocks and mounts in the three years i've owned it.

Shares parts with the MK7 fiesta and stuff is fairly cheap for it.

Nit picks lol , Mine tends to kangaroo when the engine is cold, I think the push fit bulbs are expensive, I think the turning cirlce is bad and my radio reception is not great

 

I have a Mazda2 for my kids. Mazdas, for the most part are great reliable cars. The Mazda2 is a great size car for parking and city streets.

I have no regrets.

What year and mileage are you looking at in your budget?

I did see your budget and the 1.5 sport in the original post. I am asking what year Mazda2 will that get you in your area. Prices vary drastically from region to region and the best information will be based on the generation you would be considering.

Mine is a 2016 with the 1.5 and I suspect you are looking at an earlier generation. Mine would likely not be comparable to what you are looking for.

 

anyone in Cheshire ( we live near sandbach ) that has a 1.5 sport or I guess a 1.4 ( say 2009/10 ) that will just let my daughter sit in the car and check the seat position and clutch ( she's quite petite )
