Default Windshield weatherstrip seal broken... how to fix it?

Hi,
the lower part of the rubber trim/seal/weatherstrip of my 2006 Mazda Tribute windshield is broken...
by broken I mean there are part missing...
I was wondering, is there a way to fix it by myself or is too complicated?

I noticed that the rubber is attached to the plastic part that covers the wipers engine... does it mean it's all one piece or the rubbery seal is a separate thing?

if I bring it to a bodyshop will it be expensive to fix?

if anyone had this issue and wants to share his experience would be very much appreciated...

this is a photo of my windshield lower weatherstrip

how much did you pay?

I read a lot about it and it seems it's not only for cosmetic.. it protects from the water to ruin some (electric) contacts down there

Tell me the actual price of doing windshield replacement so that it will help me to bargain with the dealer.

Wow, guess Mom never told you to say “please” huh?

This thread is 2 years old, probably best to ring a local windscreen supplier and ask (nicely), else try a boneyard?

Yes, that is only a trim piece, but like everything on the car it has a purpose. The actual weather sealant you can see through the windscreen, and its a rubber mastic sealant. Looking closely, it does not look like your screen was applied with the correct pressure to remove all bubbles/folds to form a good seal. Do not use a silicone sealant as it's not compatible with the rubber mastic. It's likely that there wasn't an observable leak until you removed the trim cover - which would've altered the airflow and hence the rain ingress.
To properly reseal it you will need to remove all the surrounding trim, use a generous amount of rubber mastic (a pneumatic gun is a wonderful invention) in an unbroken line, tape it down evenly and leave it alone until cured according to the directions on the mastic. Remove tape, refit trim, sit back and enjoy a beer.
