What is this hose that is leaking oil?
Hi All. New member to these forums. Just bought a salvage 2001 Mazda Tribute with 125K yesterday for $650. It runs pretty good and no check engine lights on, but there is the sound of what I think is a vacuum leak, as well as some oil residue on top of the engine. I think there should be a clamp on this hose in the photo. Can someone please confirm? Also, what is the name of that hose?
Thanks https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.maz...b977e989d4.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.maz...ce41c6b257.png https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.maz...805925c451.jpg |
Not sure on the name of that hose. Its common for that hose to deteriorate, split, disintegrate, or collapse.
I know from experience its hard to locate this hose in the parts catalog, also it comes as a really long section, not just the short rubber section at the top. |
Do you think that hose is missing a clamp?

Mine has a clamp, DILs was rotted on the corner and leaking, from memory I think it is breather-related which would account for the oil.

PCV hose , the other end leads to the PCV (positive crankcase valve) under the throttle body between the heads , one can fit a clamp on it if one likes .

i do not have clamp on mine either
