Default Vacuum Hoses

Hi And thanks for the ad. I have a 2004 v6 Tribute. With these hoses the one on the left goes to brake booster. The one on the right goes to the pvc valve and the one in the middle goes to the egr valve and a hose coming of this goes to another location which i have forgotten. Now the first two i mentioned have a valve which allows air to be sucked out by the engine, it stops the air from travelling backward hence creating a vacuum. Now the middle hose is acting like a two way street, ie it allows air to pass through it when i blow into it. It travels through freely, no restriction. Now i figure this should not be the case. Is what i am saying correct or is there no restriction. Thanks for any help. I have prattled on a bit but that may come with age as i am a 64 year old. Again thanks for any help.
