Tribute 2001 won't start...

I have a new problem with my Tribute: it will start and run fine until turning off, then will not re-start. Battery is good, there's fuel in the tank, it's cranking but will not start. Fuel pump and filter changed 2 years ago, EGR changed, Mass air flow sensor changed too and all intake manifold gaskets were changed also, spark plugs, coils...

If it starts, it will run fine, not check engine light.

What would you suspect?

Have you done a code check? I would be looking at crank &/or cam sensors.

Yes but I got no code.

It's the second time we have this issue. The first time happened a week ago, we just let the car sit in the driveway and the yesterday morning, it just started fine, my daughter went to work and called me after her shift as the car didn't start.

What I did yesterday is to add some gas although the fuel gauge was above 1/4 just to rule out a faulty gauge. I'm suspecting the the fuel pump even if I changed it 2 years ago as I asked my daughter to start the car while I tried to "listen" for some noise coming from the fuel pump but I didn't hear anything at all.

I will start by changing the fuel filter and will see.

Thanks for your answer, I'm a little mesmerized by the issue.

If you bought the pump 2 years ago it is likely made in China. It is really hard to get good parts anymore. Even the top brands will likely be made in China. Denso is made in America by Japanese companies and are still high quality. The fuel pump will cycle for 3 seconds when the ignition key is turned to run in order to prime the system. If you don't hear it running then it is probably the pump. You can jump it at the fuel pump relay if you know what your doing.

I've removed the panel under the seat to access the pump, there is not a sound coming from.

When I did the repair, I've installed an Airtex fuel pump, apparently carrying a lifetime warranty... will see.

Thanks for the answer

And a new pump (on warranty) went in and the problem is fixed.
