Arrow rough idling 2001 mazda tribute

hi everyone i am new at this forum well i have a 2001 mazda tribute 6 cyl front wheel drive 3.0 and i am having problems with very rough idling when i start the car the idling is so bad that the car wants to shut off the check engine is not coming on and also if it is in park and i step on gas pedal it wont idle past 4000 rpm if anyone has any info please let me know it will be very appritiated thank you

Welcome to the forum himi..
It sounds like you have a bad "Idle Air Control" valve...Also known as the I.A.C. valve. This is a the most likely culprit and easy to fix. The I.A.C. valve is located on the top of your engine. It is that silver valve with an electrical connector located just next the upper right hand corner of the plastic engne cover.
If you replace the valve let us know if that solves the problem.
