Default Oil Analysis

2003 tribute 3.0 v6, ~186000 on clock, 3500 miles between oil changes with STP pro performance 5w20 and STP oil filter. 2 quarts added between oil changes due to leaking. Looks like able to extend mileage to 5k between oil changes based upon analysis.

Similar to what others are seeing?

Empirically speaking at your miles and vehicle age you can’t really compare other oil analysis.
You left out the comments that they do for each customer. How about posting that?🤔

there are some areas based on that analysis that I am sure were mentioned….

They mentioned having life left in the oil and going 5k between change (send sample at that time). Curious about oil change intervals others are doing at this mileage and average life expectancy of motor for the 3.0 v6.

The question is subjective on most any forum. There is way too many viables for any accurate comparison. I find it interesting to brief summary you say was given and wonder why you wont post it? most on every kind of forum will at least post the complete return info with personal; info marked out? . I do several dozens of oil sample each year and likely in the hundreds over the last couple decades with them and know how they generally respond. I also see some areas that are at least makes you go hmmmmm!??

Well that your business... I am just curios!

3 to 4 thousand has always been my change interval; never had a serious engine failure in 50 years. I cringe at these "extended drain intervals". Maybe, with a new engine, 7500+ is ok, but at 150k it's suicidal.

Oil/filter rankings change as time goes by, but from what I've seen to date, STP isn't near the top.

If cost doesn't matter, or you really punish your engine, buy Amsoil products.

If not, the current "best oil" is Pennzoil Ultra Platinum made from natural gas. It places just behind Amsoil in some pretty brutal tests. Be sure to buy the Ultra oil, it has additives not in the others which rank down with the rest of the pack.

"The best" oil filter is the Purolator Boss filters. They are a "do everything well" kinda filter. Not the "the best" in any one category, but great "overall" performance. They're designed for 20k miles, I run them ~8k. Remove, drain, hold open anti-flowback rubber so that drains out too and reinstall. Note that my engine is, and runs, very clean, oil is not black when changed. If you've got worn rings, you'll have more deposits in the oil; so changing the filter at every oil change may be a better idea.

Wish I could say that but I have smoked a few dozen or more engines, however none because of my choice of oil or oil filter of my oil service intervals.. lol I cringe at these "extended drain intervals". These rankings are often not expressed by general user end and driving habits as well the extreme levels of filtration that are not realistic in most all engines operating environments.

If cost doesn't matter, or you really punish your engine, buy Amsoil products. Dont forget REDLINE.

I only really use top oil during warranty period sorta but because I frequently do oil analysis we (myself and Blackstone oil labs) found no benefits comparing top oils advertised vs less expensive. I have posted several oil analysis on my Mazda only that shows this.

"The best" oil filter is the Purolator Boss filters. This is also more of IMHO personal opinion based on real world use of vehicles, for performance I use OBERG for everything else including my MAZDA it generally is at least a top brand but not always there "best " claimed oil filter because of again oil analysis. And the fact that I like you religiously change my oil at or about 3k miles. They are a "do everything well" kinda filter. Not the "the best" in any one category, And that is the point there is not any that is a win all category oil filter. I laugh because in a blind test the old school toilet paper roll was tested and rank very high. Then the debate which brand TP it was. but great "overall" performance. They're designed for 20k miles,This is subjective at best because the manufacture is using highway vehcle population in area's that do not have extreme operating environments. I run them ~8k. Remove, drain, hold open anti-flowback rubber so that drains out too and reinstall. Note that my engine is, and runs, very clean, oil is not black when changed. So just an FYI you oil pan get that settled black oil you do realize? But good news it is easy to clean out at the normal oil change with a small can of WD-40). Next time try it you will be very surprised what come out the drain plug area. If you've got worn rings, you'll have more deposits in the oil; so changing the filter at every oil change may be a better idea. Worn rings and I am assuming you are talking about the top ring is the compression ring and when it is not sealing you get unburned gas that goes into the engines, and this will turn the oil a darker color often thought to be dirty oil. It is not dirty but high levels of unburned bypassed combustion chamber gas can reduce the protective qualities of any oil. The emission tail pipe pass test trick is to change your oil prior to your emission testing so your HC levels will be withing acceptable range.

I agree with most of your response!!
