. O2 sensor code
I was getting an engine light off and on for a few months but has recently come on solid. So I read the engine code P0161 which has to do with one of the O2 sensor heaters(Bank 2 Sensor 2) Is this the one easily viewed on the radiator side of the engine at the very bottom on the exhaust manifold right in the middle ??
Sounds like a pretty specific code--what are the odds the heater part of the sensor is really bad ?? I don't notice any performance difference since this began. Which wire is to power the heater ? Can I hook up 12 V to it outside the car and see if the sensor gets warm/hot ? |
RE: . O2 sensor code
What year, engine 4 or 6, P0161 for a 6 indicates a rear HO2S (Heated Oxygen Sensor) of Bank 2 could possibly be an open circuit, shorted to ground, or has high or low current draw. There are 4 sensors for the 6 cyl. 2 for bank 1, and 2 for bank 2. If you do have the 6cyl. I can send you a couple of pics for the pin out for the harness and replacement of the sensors. pics are for an 05' tribute

RE: . O2 sensor code
Thanks so much for the response. It is a 2001, 6 cyl Tribute. I would appreciate the pics. Does Bank 2 mean the firewall side and Sensor 2 mean after the catalytic converter ??
