Is my radio display fixable?

Hi!

The digits on the face of the clock and radio on my Tribute don't display fully. Parts of the numbers and letters for the radio and clock fade out. When I push the plastic face of the radio, they can display correctly. When I let go they fade out. Other times it displays correctly, but seldom.

Is there a remedy for this that I can perform other than a new radio?

Thank you in advance!

HG

I have this EXACT same problem on my 04, i find that holding the plastic face for a few seconds and letting off slowly normally corrects it, until I hit a bump in the road then it goes back out =/ lol

PS finding a radio to fill in the entire space of the stock radio is VERY difficult! No one has Double DIN size stereos! ha

My 2002 is having this problem. ebay has used radios for about $125 - $150.

Just put a new one in my our 02; plenty of double DIN's available got our from: http://www.crutchfield.com/g_300/Car...Double%40Sized

Our OEM display was doing the same thing, very poor design seems to fail very quickly.

Refurbished OEM units are available from 1factoryradio on ebay. Check them out. They can repair your unit as well. I don't work for them so this isn't a commercial. I just had them add an aux port cable (for my MP3 player) to my OEM unit.
They also sell OEM units w/an aux port already on them or they can put an aux port on your unit - sometimes on the face of the unit or, if not, as a cable (~18") coming out of the back of the unit with the aux port jack on the end. You decide where you want to terminate the aux port in that case.
The email to reach them is hireyburn@yahoo.com. Contact name is Pete.
