MazdaTribute engine stops when on idle

HI,
My Mazda Tribute 2001 keeps stopping when engine is in idle or when stopped at a red light. When the car is started, the engine seems like it is misfiring. I asked someone and they told me it is called "loping". Can someone please help me?

I had a similar problem and mine was a vacuum leak. My leak was on the hose running from the pvc valve up to the inlet manifold. There are 2 joiners on the hose and they had hardened over time. I put hose clamps either end of the joiners and all good. If you are ok lifting off the inlet manifold go for it. Where it goes onto the pvc valve it is a bit of a bugger but keep at it. I am assuming yours is a v6 engine/

Thanks so much Noel1955. I will pass the information along to my mechanic and go from there. Almost everything I have read in the forum on this issue points to a vacuum leak. Yes, mine is a v6. Really appreciated.
