Mazda Tribute 2001

5km / ltr is about 12 miles per gallon.
My 2005 Tribute V6, in perfect shape with 14,000 miles, is getting 16 miles per gallon in the city and 23 on the highway.
I don't spend any time sitting in traffic, and I'm not a heavy footed driver...I'm slow to accelerate and try to glide to stops...and I still only get 16mpg.
If you're sitting in traffic, take off fast, and do lot's of braking to stop, then 12mpg (5km/ltr) is probably normal for your Tribute.
Ways to improve gas mileage:
1. Proper tire inflation.
2. Allow the car to warm up a bit before you start driving; cold engines waste fuel.
2. Slow take off and glide to a stop.
3. Get a tune up; new plugs, air filter and synthetic motor oil all improve gas mileage.

Whats the service history like? Tyre pressures all good? Any faults with it? I get about 8km per litre on a mix of urban and some highway so 5 is definitely on the low side unless your driving is all slow urban?
