Default how to stop the odometer on the tribute?

On a 06 Tribute, what needs to be disconnected from the tranny in order to stop the odometer. I know it's digital, is it a combo of a electrical connector and the speedo cable? Or is it not possible on these vehicles. Oh, it's a 2.3L 5spd. awd.

Thanx
Seb

What you are suggesting is fraud. Don't expect much help from this forum in doing something illegal. A warranty is there to protect against manufacturing defects, not so that you have free service for life.

Go buy an extended warranty like all the other law abiding citizens in this country that want coverage past the standard warranty.

How would you like it if you bought a vehicle with 20,000 miles on it and it turned out the seller had turned of the odometer and it actually had 80K miles?

I noticed he's got a Canadian Zip Code......

Any attempt to alter a vehicle's odometer reading for the purpose of increasing its value constitutes fraud and is punishable under the Federal Weights and Measures Act, the Canadian Criminal Code and Alberta's Fair Trading Act, which could lead to fines of up to $100,000 and two years in jail.

I also don't think it could be done with out setting some sort of body powertrain or instrument cluster code. So at least he will not beablke to get away with it.

Unfortunately just about anything can be done these days, you just have to know how to do it.

not so much, unplugging things on new car, screws with the computer. The computer knows its odometer is has been unplugged and will make the engine run like absolute poop.
