Hi all,

My 2002 Tribute (3.0 V6) has recently begun intermittently downshifting out of overdrive when driving at highway speeds. This happens on level road with and without the cruise control engaged. It will cruise along for miles and miles and then suddenly downshift with no additional pressure on the accelerator applied. When my wife 1st started complaining about this symptom, I suspected that it was just a heavy foot on her part but when on a long road trip this weekend, the same thing happened to me even while cruising down a slight incline. Have any of you experienced these same symptoms and if so, what was the diagnosis (if any)?
