Axle noise disappeared? On Tribute 2002
Hi all,
I recently got a hand me down 2002 Tribute ES with 190K miles on it. Runs like a dream tho. I really like the car, everything in it works fine. When the car sits without use for a day or two, it vibrates on the front axle and makes this squeaking noise. I thought for sure the CV joint went out. But 5 mins into driving the noise disappears. Then a day later the same happens. I live in North Texas, no ocean nearby and pretty dry, so rusting is not a big issue. I am not sure if I should wait a few more months to see if the CV finally gives out or if I should spend the money changing the axle. I also don't want to throw alot of money on a 190K mile car. Any help would be appreciated it.
