Add keyless remote
 

Hi all,

I am wondering what it would take to add keyless remote to my 01 Tribute DX? I thought all had it but when I bought the car it had no remotes. I bought a remote but can't get the car to get into program mode. The dealer said my VIN did not show my car with RKE. Can I just change the GEM module or would I be better off just adding a aftermarket kit? Thanks.

there is a slight possibilty of changing the GEM to add the keyless system but is very cost prohibitive to do so. The GEM module is around $225 and the remotes run about $125 each. Do not even know if changing the GEM will work anyway. Look to the aftermarket would be the best option at this point.

Yeh, I pretty much found that out. I can get a aftermarket RKE for about $60 & install it my self. That way I will not have to mess with the computers or modules. Thanks.
