2002 tribute 4 wheel drive wont engage
 

Does anyone know why my 02 tribute 4x4 wont engage into 4 wheel drive? When i push the button, the indicator light comes on but thats it. im not familiar with how the whole thing is supposed to work. im used to transfer cases and vacuum actuators so any input is appreciated.

Welcome to the forum...First let me say I have a 2001 Mazda just like yours but I am no expert when it comes to the 4wd system. There are folks here who know a lot more than I do about them. Since no one else has responded to your problem yet I will try to help the best I can here.
our tributes are the same as the ford escapes. I did some diging and found a link to a post that might be of some help

Now the OP had a problem with his 4wd not unlocking, but the information might put you on the right track..Let us know what you find out..
