2001 Tribute sunroof
It's a wet winter and my Tribute is leaking.
I was told by the dealer to repair my sunroof, I cannot just change the rubber seals but have to change my entire sunroof, for about $1000.
Is this accurate? Just doing a sanity check.
Thank you so much for your read and help!

San Carlos,
The drain holes are located in the two front corners of the black plastic area of the sunroof. They are about 3/8 " holes, and you have to look hard to see them. Take a compressed air line with a rubber tipped blower attachment, and using about 90psi of pressure, stick the rubber tip in the hole and pull the trigger to release a blast of compressed air. If you look under the front fender on the side your on when you do this you should start seeing some water dripping out. Do both sides, and then check it by squirting some water down the holes to see if water drips out. I live in Florida and we get tons of rain, and this cured my problem. The drainlines run thru the windshield post on each side of the windshield, and can be checked by removing the two screws that hold the interior trim piece on. The drain line just slides over a fitting on the drain holes. Worse case senerio it may have come loose and need to be slid back over the fitting. Easy job!!!

Manhattan,
Thanks!! There is a narrow(@2-3") drainage pan underneath the edges of the sunroof. Sometimes leaves, dirt, etc. collects in the pan. I recommend checking it and vacuuming any debris out. The are also two drain holes at the back corners of the sunroof, but these seldom get clogged. Also run a little vaseline along the track glides after cleaning them off with a little mineral spirits and everything should work as good as new. If you sunroof leaks it is because of clogged drains, not the gasket seal, unless the seal is extremely bad, and you have an extreme amount of water entering that the drains can't compesate for.
