2001 Mazda Tribute V6 3.0 LX***Rough Idling after disconnecting the negative battery
Hello there!,
I was wondering if anyone have ever experienced a problem with rough idling on your Mazda tribute after removing the negative cable. I mean last week I was working on my son's tribute replacing the Idle Air control valve and maf sensor. After installation the car was running OK with just a little bit of elevated RPM around 850 but other than that car was running like a charm. I thought maybe I need it to disconnect the battery to reset the PCM....Well Wrong!!! I disconnected the battery and left it there for about 15 min and after I connected the battery and started the engine the idle was running rough like shocking, rough shifting and fumes inside the car.. It seems like I lost my previous setting and needs to relearn everything in the ecu or something..
Please your input or any help will be greatly appreciated!!!
Cheers

I've not heard disconnecting the batt. resets the most basic things as would involve just rudimentary idle. And I've had my batt. disc. / reconn. numerous times in the course of very recent work and have had no issues with initial idle. As mentioned, check things dislodged, broke, or affected by and near the work you did.
Thanks for your input...After checking everything around the area I have worked prior to disconnecting the battery everything seems normal to me. I took the car to my mechanic and he ran his Snapon OBD2 scanner and he told me that multiple things were still un the process of relearning and that sometimes takes up to 30 miles driving the car to relearn everything again..But I am with you on this one. I suspect issues with the PCM since the problem intermittent and not all the time.
