05 Mazda Tribute crank no start + new ckp
2005 mazda tribute 3l v6 ckp issues + who knows what else. This is gonna be a long one, but I will try to get all of the info in here. To begin, as of today I have some stalling issues at idle + below 1500 rpm, jerking while accelerating, bouncing rpm and finally a crank no start situation. I recently had a severe oil leak coming from the rear of the valve cover closest to the firewall. due to this, I replaced the valve cover gaskets as well as the intake manifold + throttle body gaskets. I made the mistake of spraying the MAF sensor with brake clean which totally destroyed it, Replaced that. initially, that seemed to fix the jerking while accelerating and stalling, but that soon came back. Then I got a P0320 code for a ckp. Replaced that. Then - after giving it some time to relearn - it seemed to fix the same problems. I actually managed to let it idle for 30 min. during this time, the idle was smooth as butter. Finally, this morning, it struggled with the cold start, barely able to idle for a few seconds. even on the highway, I had to put it in neutral and give it throttle just to keep the rpms constantly at 2000 to avoid stall. Once I got off work I got a crank no start situation. I can hear the fuel pump priming, no apparent issues with ignition coils/ spark plugs, no vacuum leaks, fuses all have continuity, alternator is charging, battery terminals are clean and have good contact, timing belt looks good. My best guess at this point is that some connector, somewhere got damaged from the oil leak, or a wire is frayed somewhere leading to an inconsistent connection. I AM TOTALLY LOST. any help troubleshooting would be lifesaving
Currently in a crank but no start situation? Car sitting at work? Hooking up a computer would be nice, but if that's not an option, I would spray a little starting fluid directly into the throttle body, if it doesn't fire for even a second, then you have no spark...then you have to figure out why the computer isn't sparking the plugs. Guessing, bad crankshaft position sensor...the engine will not fire if the computer doesn't know the cranks position. If you like working on your own vehicles, a good code/engine analyzer isn't that expensive and can lead you to problems real fast instead of guessing.
I plugged my code reader in this morning and I was still getting the P0320 code for the Ignition/Distributor Engine Speed Input Circuit. I replaced the sensor about a week ago so I’m thinking maybe something is loose or maybe I have a wire disconnected somewhere
