immobiliser light

Hi,

I bought a rx8 and it wouldnt start bit of a gamble, noticed the main fuse 120mp had blown, replaced it and all i get is ignition lights wont crank and the immobiliser light is flashing away.

I have also replaced the ecu ignition barrel and keyless entry and relevant key for the ecu but still no joy, iam lost now god knows what the problem is relays and fuses look to be ok.

any help would be great:)

Do you have two keys?
Take it to Mazda for a code check.

If the keys match the keyless unit & the transponder ring on the ignition barrel then it should be able to be coded to the ECU &/or Instrument cluster.

Cheers only got 1 key mate, the key matches the keyless entry and the antenna on the barrel came off a car that was broke for bits, at a loss with it now lol

You may need a new key by Mazda or another provider. I think you will need to proof ownership of the vehicle so Mazda can get you a new set of keys for a not so small fee.
I would call a Mazda dealer for information. Then I would cross check online to look for alternatives.
Maybe you can hack and fix the antenna (isn't that an aerial?) of your existing key.

I changed the barrel key ecu ect because the old key had same problem. The ecu recognises the key via the antenna, ( Ariel) so it should work as took these off a working car so iam stuck at the mo :-(

Obviously they don't communicate. The idea of the system is to make it really difficult to steal the vehicle..........

m_reed 03-04-2014 12:30 PM

So how did there communicate on the last car? And yes have changed 3 things I don't think you would get a theif out side your house drilling the ecu out lmao

tanprotege 03-04-2014 12:40 PM

depends where your house is located at. lmao

I'm glad that you are getting help in this situation. I have learned so much about what needs to be done when something like this happens. Thanks for the help!
