Battery changed - now no power steering!?
Hi All,
I'm a newbie to using forums, but your help comes highly recommended! I changed the battery on my 54 plate RX-8 this morning, an easy job in theory, when I put it all back together put the key in and reset the DSC/TCS systems (by turning the steering wheel to full lock in each direction) the steering felt extroadinarily heavy and the power steering warning light is lit on the dashboard. I had to drive into work without power steering in the end! Any ideas on causes or solutions for this please? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, |
Hmmmm.... That's a new one. 'Wish I had a suggestion but I don't. It might be related to the DSC/TCS system reset you mention but I am unfamiliar with all that. I don't know what to suggest. Perhaps Mazmart Trini (Sheldon) can suggest something? He is much more familiar with the new rotary cars and their systems than I am. |
THis is the only thing I could find that would seem to help......http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=185006
These cars are so prone to electrical issues, I really could not say for sure what the problem could be. -Sheldon. |
It might be worth checking the fuse for the power steering. It's a while since I had my RX8 but the handbook will tell you where it is.

All Sorted!
Thanks Guys,
The power steering mysteriously just started working again yesterday! Not sure what the problem was, but she's been fine since... I think I'll have to take it into the garage if it happens again though. Many thanks for your reply. Matt :) |
