operating temperature
 
my 89 rx7 gets pretty hot is that normal because i heard that the engine runs hot and now its starting to get hot outside i get a lil worried bout driving it the needle reads like about 3/4 of the gauge

is that normal or am i being paranoid

my personal experience is that is a little high, replace your thermostat and note any changes, hopefully the thermostat is just sticking or is cracked causing the car to run a little hot, after that, i would perform a full cooling system flush and replace the antifreeze/coolant and see where that takes you........let me know if any of that works for you.

TAKE IT ANOTHER STEP FURTHER; IF LITTLE OR NO IMPROVEMENT; INSTALL PREFORMANCE RADIATOR AND A SEPARATE
ENGINE TEMP GAUGE. MAZDA DASH GAUGE IS UNRELIABLE, WAS BURNT ON A CUSTOMER CAR BY IT.
