exhaust
I am trying to upgrade my exhaust on my 1st gen. and ran into a problem with my bolts. Is there a way to get the rusty bolts off without breaking them? or should I just break them and get new ones? I am trying to gut out my cat and run straight pipe from the header back I already removed the stock muffler and that was not only a exhuast upgrade it was also a weight reduction. Now I am having problems with my bolts they're rusted solid and wont come off I already broke 3 sockets trying to remove them so wondering if you have any tricks. Thanks for your help

Some of the penetrating sprays work ok but one of the best ways to get the rusty ones loose is to heat the bolt up so is good and warm. Not red hot you know but too hot to touch. Get some ordinary candle wax and touch onto the rusted bolt. If hot enough the wax will melt and flow between the bolt and stud. The parafin in the wax is a very good lubricant and will usually come loose. Sounds like you might need to get some stronger sockets too. The bolt should have broken before a good quality socket would have.
But if the bolts are located so that they are replaceable then just breaking and replacing would be a lot easier.

Yea they are in a easy place to replace the bolts. I broke 1 Craftsman socket and adapter along with a low name brand ratchet so I was like wow strong bolts. Thank you for replying to my post I have had 2 replys to like many posts I guess if I post more people will reply? ohh well thanks.

You post with some questions sometimes that only a rotary head would have an answer too. Your posts do not go without notice believe me. Which bolts are you trying to remove that are so difficult?
The bolts are the ones right b4 the cat and the bolts right b4 the u shape bend going over the back axles. They are increadable rusted and pretty much welded together with the piping. After Christmas i'm going to just break them off and get knew ones. I just can't wait, I want my car to shot flames now! We actually just made my buddy's Nissan 200sx shoot flames fun fun.
