Turbo ?

Hi everybody,
I have a Mazda Protege 2002 ES-GT 2.0L, 40 000 miles, oil full syntech in engine and I'd like to put a MazdaSpeed Turbo in my car. How much do you think it cost ? Is there a model of turbo that would be better than another one, without spending 5000$ for a turbo !!! Is there dangerous to put a turbo in my car if at the base, the engine was not designed for that ? And for my warranty ?

Is the MazdaSpeed engine made with the 2.0L and there is only a turbo added ?
If I put a turbo in my car, is there something else I should change -> Spark Plug, exhaust, valves.. ?

Many Thanks for your answer. !!

Sorry for my English ! French is my first language ! Mazda JP ! FROM QUEBEC , CANADA

RE: Turbo ?

Hey Mazda JP

To answer a couple questions

- Turbochargers are costly. Usually not 5000 a kit.but range from 500-2000ish. Altho, I have seen some pretty expensive kits. I highly rec. not looking into installing a turbo until you have the correct Supporting Mods. Ex- Intercooler. Boost Gauge. Exhaust and Intake to help your engine breath better.

- Deciding a turbo depends on what kind of goals you want to reach. You have to be more specific. Big turbo= more lag, More aiflow. Small turbo= Less lag, but less airflow.

- No the mazdaspeed6 does not come in a 2.0l. I believe its a 2.3L pushin 15PSI. pretty nice setup for a sedan.

- Yes it is risky to install a turbo if your car isn't ready to handle it. Its like throwing you out in the desert without cold water. Im pretty certain that this is not warranty covered because Forced Induction is not mandatory.

Theres tons of info on Turbocharger prices and "First Mods" to read up on.

Good luck! ;)

RE: Turbo ?

I go with talnteddriver29.,.,i think it is not a gud idea to instyall a turbo on small engine man.,.,it does't stand with that high boost,.,.if u want to install.,.,.,i think u need to fully start over from the pcm.,.,
