Strange Right Side Mirror One-Axis Fail
Have a 2001 Mazda Protege LX 2.0, loaded, and the weirdest problem-have not seen this in any post about electric mirrors:
The driver's side mirror was intermittent in the vertical axis for while-seemed to do it when it A) rained, or B) went through the car wash. It usually corrected itself in 24 hrs....This time I shot some WD-40 in back of the mirror, hoping to drive the wet out, but no go this time. Odd to find just ONE axis of an electric motor shot-does this ever happen? Thanks to the group in advance. |
There will be two motors, 1 for up & down, the 2nd motor for left & right.

Thanks, Grim...gonna have a look at the shop manual and see how much of a hair-pulling exercise this is, as it's really gone out for good this time...and there's the dealership part - $$$$$$$$$$$...may wind up on this forum rummaging in the parts bin area...if there is one..been a while since I was here.
Thanks! |
Well, don't forget to check the switch and the wiring too.

Looks like a trip to the body shop; I don't have the expertise to get the inside panel to inspect the connector without ruining it. Body shop labor is cheaper than a mechanic's labor, usually.
Thanks to you both! |
