Screeching noise on Mazda Protege 2001 LX 2.0

Hello everyone,

Lately my car (Mazda Protege 2001 LX 2.0) is making screeching noise when I start in morning. It gets louder when I hit the accelerator and turn on right but it goes away after 5 minutes. I had my coworker check the car (who's pretty knowledgeable with cars) and said that I was running low on steering oil. When I checked the oil, it is almost low but I just wanted to check with you expert out there before I do anything. Could that be the problem ? If so, do I need to buy any special brand of steering oil for Mazda Protege or any oil will do the job. I really appreciate your help on this matter.

Thanks

power steer fluid is specific to the power steering system, call mazda dealer . noise can be related to the belts . Not enough information to say more.

As copierman said, it could be belts, they usually squeal at startup, may need a tighten/replacement. But if it worsens when u turn right, well then, i have no idea. i know my old Holden always used to groan when the steering fluid was low (yeah, there was a leak i neglected to fix for a while) , buit not squeal.
