Rotary engine in a Protege?

does anyone know if this is possible, what would need to be done to make it work, and any idea on the headache I will have installing a rotary....

Haves:
99 Protege LX
Standard Transmission.

Needs?:
Rotary Engine (what RX should I pull this from?)
transaxle
Standard Transmission
Perf. Clutch

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Rotary engine in a Protege?

the biggest headache that i think you would face is the wiring and the tranny. i am not sure that they ever made a transaxle for a rotary motor, so you would have to adapt the stock transaxle to fit the rotary. as for the donor, i would say that anything from the second generation up would work just fine. that is where the wiring comes in. you would have to build a wiring harness for this motor to use it's stock ecu. i think that the best bet that you could have is to go ahead and drop in an fs-ze (jdm) motor or just turbocharge the existing motor. this would cost about the same, but would involve a rebuild of the motor and a turbo kit.
