Default Rear strut question?

hey guys, my passenger rear strut popped right through the tower this morning on my way to work. The tower it self looks to be in good shape, looks like the strut mount is what’s rusted out. I’ve never resplaced a strut or mount before. I’m wondering if I can replace the top mount without having to buy a whole new strut? Any advice or tips for this would be hugely appreciated.
thanks guys, cheers.

for about $95 on rock auto it might be better to replace the whole strut assembly.

Well, technically speaking, yes you can. Looks like Rock Auto sells the strut mounts. You need to borrow a pair of spring compressors.

However, I would carefully inspect both sides to make sure everything else is OK.

Also, what Year/Model is yours?
