Wes, you really know your stuff. I just inherited a 03 dx, 5sod. It's got the 2.0, but I know that there's no replacement for displacement! Can I swap out the 2.3 or 2.5 from the Mazda 6 and still add turbo? My hp goal is about 230, 200 at the wheels. I do most of all my own work so I'm totally redoing the car. Any advice would be great.
Thanks!

Default 2002 protege automatic to manual mods

I have a 2002 protege es that the differential is noisy in and I want to replace it with a manual. I have two 2000 1.6L 5 speed doner cars, but all the information I have found tells me the 1.6L trans will not fit the 2.0L. Can anyone confirm this.

My other option is swap the 1.6L & 5speed in to the 2002, How much off a hassle will that be? (1.6L only has 72,000 miles on it, my 2.0L has 159k and heavy oil consummation through the valve stem seals)

Hey Questioner here looking for answers

I have 1993 Protege lx 1.8 that i have been slowly modifying it has Exhaust , short ram Intake , and soon getting a aftermarket header 4-1 .
I have been experiencing a lag in acceleration and was wondering if there are any suggestions on how to fix before i take it to a dyno .
i have some ideas on how to assist the issue but i would like some other options on the matter

On that note Iam Very interested in Tuners/ Programmers and am looking to install this in my car . Does any one have any suggestions on what model brand i can plug and play on my vehicle or will i be forced to out in an inline Mod since it is before a 1997?

Default Modding a 1.6l

I am trying to get the most hp out of my 1999 mazda 1.6l protege. It is currently stright piped and has a cold air intake. I thought about using a vw jetta turbo on it but dont want to dump alot of money into tuning and new internals. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

The best way to get a faster car, and by far the cheapest, is to sell your car and buy something faster.

Sorry, power isn't cheap, even a small gain in power will cost you money; if you want real power it will take adding a turbocharger, and even if you can do the work yourself it will cost you upwards of $1,500 to $2,000. If you are unable to do the work, figure at least $4,000.

I thought about getting a used vw diesel turbo and doing the work myself. Do you know what would need to be done to run a turbo on the 1.6l. I was thinking some ecu programming and maby different injectors and spark plugs?
