RE: protege rims

where do you live? i have a couple of 16" stock protege5 rims coming off of mine in January. i would ship, or if, you live in texas, you could just pick them up. they are the stock 5 spoke rims that currently don't have any curb rash and are at 78k miles. LMK if you are interested.

the searches that i have seen, so far, say that rims in the condition mine are in go for $75 each. i could do $60 each w/tires and i will split shipping with you. that is, if you can't find any by then

Hi,

I'm looking for stock rims for a 2002 Mazda Protégé 5 (hatchback). Currently, our car has 205/40-17 tires on 17" rims. My ex used to have this and I got this from our divorce settlement and I have passed it on to my son. My son wants a thicker set of tires besides he has cracked this 17" rims 3x already and I think even though we got it repaired it might not last him another year. How do kids crack rims?

I've seen a lot of Mazda 3 or 6 rims on Craigslist and was wondering if this will fit this 2002 Mazda Protege5. Can anyone help me? And if any of you are trying to get rid or know of anyone who is selling their stock rims - please let me know.

Thanks!

Low profile tires are more prone to having the rims cracked if the tire pressure is low, as the distance between the rim and and road is minimal. Pot holes are #1, curbs, bumps are #2.

Thanks for the explanation ... pretty much what he said about the roads in his college.

I've Googled and it seems like the bolt pattern of the rim for a 2002 Protege5 is the same as any year of the Mazda 3 and 6. The only difference that I've notice is that the Protégé uses a 195/50-16 while the Mazda 3 or 6 uses 205/55-16. Can I use the Mazda 3 tires and rims or can I change the tires to 195/50-16 but using the Mazda 3 rims?

Question might seem stupid but I just want to make sure before I go out buying the rims in Craigslist. Mazda 3 rims are a lot cheaper than the original Protege5 rims.

Thanks!
